2022年12月28日付のご報告のとおり、Krakenは、2023年1月31日をもって日本での事業を停止し、金融庁登録の暗号資産交換業の廃止を決定しました。本件に伴う注意事項について、改めてお知らせいたします。
Krakenは、お客様からの信頼を大切にしています。Krakenはお客様の資産のシームレスな移行を確保するために尽力しており、このメールの情報がお客様にとって最良の選択肢を決定する一助となることを願っています。Krakenは、影響を受けるすべてのお客様が遅滞なく資産を引き出すことができるように、返還のための資金は確保されています。

【1/28追記】日本における暗号資産交換業の廃止の準備のため、現在ステーキングサービスをご利用中のポルカドット（DOT）とカルダノ（ADA）については、1月31日までの引出し期間終了までにステーキングの解除と引出しをお願いしております。解除後に資産がアカウントに返還されるまでに一定の時間を要します（原則、24時間のUnbonding periodが設けられています）ので、引出し期間終了直前にステーキング解除を行った場合に、引出しに間に合わない可能性がありますので、十分な余裕を持って解除・引出し処理をお願いいたします。

上述のような事態を可能な限り避けるために、Unbonding periodと引出しのための時間を考慮し、現在ステーキングサービスをご利用中のポルカドット（DOT）とカルダノ（ADA）については、1月29日中に自動的にステーキングを解除することといたします。なお、両銘柄についての解除時点までのステーキング報酬は、登録解除の前にお客様のアカウントに付与されます。

お客様の資産の移転・引出しについて
公告およびこれまでの通知のとおり、お客様には、2023年1月31日までに、口座に保有する法定通貨および暗号資産を出金していただきます。Krakenのプラットフォームから法定通貨および暗号資産の保有残高を外部ウォレットに移転するか、もしくは、お客様のポートフォリオを清算して日本円を国内の銀行口座に出金するか、を選択していただけます。

また、Krakenから資産を滞りなくお引出ししていただけるように、1月中はすべてのお客様の口座の出金制限は解除されています。すでに新たな入金のための機能は停止されていますが、取引（売買および交換）機能は、2023年1月31日まで、引き続きご利用いただけます。
なお、現在Krakenのステーキング・サービスを通じてステーキングされている暗号資産は、ステークを解除し、希望に応じて送金または取引を行っていただくことができます。（*ETHの解除方法については、下の記載をご確認ください。）

日本時間の2月1日 午前0時（00:00 JST）までに引き出されなかった米ドル、ユーロおよび暗号資産の保有資産は、クラーケンの販売所取引により、自動的に日本円に換価されます。
上記の手続きを経て、1月31日に暗号資産交換業の登録解除が完了した後に、Krakenは法的要件に基づき、口座保有資産（日本円）を法務局に供託します。お客様におかれましては、1月31日までに引出しが完了されていない場合には、お客様ご自身により残高の回収方法について法務局と調整する必要が生じる可能性があります。法務局に資金が供託された後は、Krakenはお客様の引き出しに対応できなくなります。

イーサリアム（ETH）のステーキングサービスをご利用されているお客様へ
イーサリアム（ETH）をステーキングする際のイーサリアムネットワークの制限により、1月31日より前にKrakenによりETHをアンステーク（ステーキングの解除）することができません。ステーキングされたETHは、3月に予定されている「Shanghai」のアップグレードを待つ必要があります。アップグレードが実施された後、KrakenはETHのステーキングを解除できるようになり、その後、1ヶ月間の引出し期間を設ける予定です。引出し期限の終了後には、他の暗号資産と同様に、ETHを日本円に変換し、法務局へ供託します。
なお、「Shanghai」アップグレード完了までの間の報酬分（ETH2）は継続して付与されます。

「Shanghai」アップグレードまでの間、ETHステーキング残高を有するKraken口座は閉鎖せず維持されますが、新たな入金や取引は行えません。

お客様がステーキングされたETH以外の資産を預けられている場合で、それらの資産が日本時間の2月1日 午前0時（00:00 JST）までに引き出されなかった場合、ステーキングされたETH以外の資産は、上述のとおり、自動的に日本円に換価され、法務局へ供託されますので、ご注意ください。

We would like to remind you that Kraken will cease its operations in Japan and deregister from the Financial Services Agency (JFSA) as of January 31, 2023.

We value the trust our clients put in us. That’s why we are committed to ensure a seamless transition and we hope the information in this email will help you decide what is the best option for you. Kraken is fully funded to ensure all affected clients can withdraw their assets in a timely manner.

[New information – Jan 28]  For the preparations for the winding-down the crypto exchange business in Japan, we are requesting that the clients currently using the staking service for Polkadot (DOT) and Cardano (ADA) unstake and withdraw their funds before the end of the withdrawal period on January 31. Since it takes a certain amount of time for assets to be returned to your account after the staking is unstaked (in principle, a 24-hour unbonding period is applied), if you unstake immediately before the end of the withdrawal period, you may not be able to withdraw the funds in time. Please allow enough time for the unstaking and withdrawal process.
In order to avoid the aforementioned situation as much as possible, Polkadot (DOT) and Cardano (ADA), which are staked as of January 29, will be automatically de-staked on the day, considering the unbonding period and the time required for withdrawals. Staking rewards up to the point of deactivation for both stocks will be credited to your account prior to deregistration.

What this means for you

In accordance with JFSA guidance, all affected Kraken clients have until January 31, 2023 to withdraw their fiat and crypto holdings from Kraken’s platform. You may choose to either withdraw your crypto holdings to an external wallet or liquidate your portfolio and withdraw your JPY to a domestic bank account.

Deposit functionality has been removed from affected accounts since January 9th. Trading functionality will remain until the end of January 2023 so that you can convert your balance to the asset of your choice. In addition, withdrawal limits have been removed for the month of January to ensure you can remove your assets from Kraken. Funds currently staked with Kraken can be unstaked and transferred or converted as desired. See below for additional information on the ETH unstaking process. Any remaining non-JPY fiat (e.g. USD, EUR) and crypto holdings (outside of staked ETH) held on Kraken after February 1 00:00 JST will be automatically converted to JPY and a fee will be applied.

On January 31, 2023, Kraken will send any remaining JPY to a Guaranty Account at the Legal Affairs Bureau in accordance with legal requirements. If you do not take any action before January 31, you will have to coordinate with the Legal Affairs Bureau on how to retrieve your JPY balance. Once funds have been transferred to the Legal Affairs Bureau, Kraken will no longer be able to support client withdrawals. After this final transfer to the Legal Affairs Bureau, your account will be deactivated. You should download any historical reports you want to conserve prior to account closure, but may reach out to our customer support team if you need support.

For clients who have Staked ETH

Due to the limitations of the Ethereum network for staked ETH, clients who are currently staking ETH will not be able to unstake ETH until the Ethereum network’s Shanghai upgrade, currently estimated to occur in March 2023.

If you are staking ETH with Kraken, we will continue to accrue rewards on your behalf, and you will continue to see those rewards accumulate in your Kraken account. Once the Shanghai upgrade goes into effect and unstaking has been enabled, Kraken will unstake any staked ETH associated with your account, and notify you that you will have one month to withdraw your assets from Kraken. At the close of that month, any remaining assets will be converted to JPY and transferred to the Guaranty Account at the Legal Affairs Bureau.
