クラーケン・ジャパンは、仮想通貨（暗号資産）ポルカドット（DOT）の取扱いとステーキングを開始しましたのでお知らせいたします。

DOTは、クラーケン・ジャパンが取扱う仮想通貨と法定通貨の全ての組合せ（ペア）で取引が可能です。現在、クラーケン・ジャパンでは、DOT以外に8種類の仮想通貨と3種類の法定通貨をサポートしています。

ポルカドットとは？

ポルカドットは、「リレーチェーン（Relay Chain）」と「パラチェーン（Parachain）」という2つのブロックチェーンで構成されています。リレーチェーンはメインのネットワークで最終的に取引が記録される場所です。パラチェーンは、外部の開発者がカスタム可能なブロックチェーンで複数存在し、DeFiやNFTなどさまざまなユースケースを実現できる仕組みになっています。

パラチェーンはリレーチェーンにつながることでセキュリティを担保する一方、取引処理をそれぞれ分担することでリレーチェーンの負担を減らし、速い取引スピードを実現します。

ポルカドットは、さまざま分散型アプリ（dApps）の受け皿となるブロックチェーンという点で、しばしば「イーサリアムキラー」の一角として注目されています。

また、下記で詳しく説明する通り、ポルカドットは取引承認の合意形成の方法としてPoS（プルーフ・オブ・ステーク）を採用しており、ステーキングにも対応しています。

DOTはポルカドットのガバナンストークンである他、ステーキングに参加するために必要なトークンであり、パラチェーンの枠をプロジェクトに割り当てるオークションの際にも使われます。

ステーキングとは？

ステーキングとは、PoSを採用するブロックチェーンで実行が可能で、「バリデーター」と呼ばれるユーザーが、対象となる仮想通貨を一定量保有（ロック）することで取引記録のブロック生成プロセスに参加し、報酬を得る行為を指します。

これまで仮想通貨の投資といえば、安く買って高く売ることで利益を出すキャピタルゲイン狙いがほとんどでした。対照的にステーキングは、口座に仮想通貨を保有するだけで定期的かつ安定的にリターンをもたらすインカムゲインを狙うという新たな投資手法をもたらしました。

執筆時点において、クラーケンのDOTステーキングの年利（単利）は12％となっています。

本サービスにおいては、当社関係会社が、消費貸借契約によってお客様から借り受けた仮想通貨を原資として当該仮想通貨のステーキングに参加し、その報酬の全部又は一部に相当する仮想通貨をリワード（貸借料）としてお客様にお支払いすることで、お客様が間接的にステーキングに参加することを目的としています。

What’s Polkadot (DOT)?

Polkadot is a network of public and private blockchains that exchange both custom assets and data.

Developed by Ethereum co-creator Gavin Wood, Polkadot’s architecture has two key components: the relay chain and the parachains. The relay chain is the foundation with parachains built on top that can support various use cases, such as NFTs and DeFi.

DOT is Polkadot’s native cryptocurrency that plays a key role in operating the network, and can be used for staking and participating in the auctions of Polkadot parachains.

What is Staking?

With just a few clicks, clients can securely stake DOT, either deposited to their Kraken account or purchased on the exchange, to immediately start earning regular staking rewards. 

Staked tokens validate transactions on the blockchain in a process known as Proof of Stake (PoS). On Kraken, staked DOT is pooled in an on-chain smart contract, or validator, with other deposited tokens, with each client receiving a proportional share of the network’s transaction fees as a reward. 

Currently, clients can earn 12% in yearly rewards by staking DOT.
