Kraken testifies before Congress to push for effective crypto regulation

Today at 9:30am EST, Kraken’s Chief Legal Officer Marco Santori will appear before the U.S. House of Representatives in a landmark joint hearing entitled “The Future of Digital Assets: Closing the Regulatory Gaps in the Digital Asset Ecosystem.”

“Advocating for the potential, and benefits, of crypto asset technology is central to our mission. We are working in partnership with lawmakers in the U.S., and other jurisdictions we operate in, to help facilitate workable frameworks for digital assets to thrive,” said Santori. “Forcing this emerging technology and growing global asset class into existing U.S. securities rules without modifications simply does not work.”

In this live testimony, Santori will explain how the status quo in the U.S. is untenable for crypto companies and fails to adequately protect consumers. He’ll also outline why now is the time for U.S. legislators to enact an effective regulatory framework, and will make the case for U.S. regulators to work with counterparts in other developed and emerging economies to create a coherent global framework for our markets.
